What does living well mean to you?

I connect by the water with surfing, by sailing, by kayaking. All kinds of activities in the water I love to do.

What does HOME mean to you?

I love my home – there's a spirit there in anybody's home that can't be duplicated. I put some bookshelfs up that I built and I even put a piece of furniture that I built with my wife, and I put the date on the bottom of it. These are special memories that can't be duplicated. That's why you live there, and it's part of who you are.  

What do you want to preserve the most?

A nursing home is like an institution to me. It's the last place you want to spend the final days on the Earth, in an institutation.  

What MAKES A GREAT NURSE?

To have someone coming on a regular basis would give me a sense of security, a sense of stability, a sense of independence, even though I'm dependent on the help of others. When I think of a nurse, I think of a very caring person, who is very trained yet very compassionate and helpful in any way physically that I may need. And can find the help if I need it.
